Wertung: 6,8/10

  1. Retouching My Portrait – Is Not a Flash in the Pan! Portraits have a longer history like photography itself. This shows the interest of humans getting their images live with time. The art of portrait have long grown and the enhancements have evolved through technologies. Portraits started as a royal service travelled with time and technology and became a common activity. With the invasion of digital cameras, capturing portraits is as simple as that. Highend cameras have capture settings like face detection to take portraits with more accuracy. Today retouching is not a flash in the pan. Close look: Retouching portraits require immense skill. This is because the editor has to change very minute details to look the image different. The responsibility is more on the shoulders of the artist as the customer feels „retouching my portrait is enhancing my facial attributes“. Apart from the regular skin tone, one needs to give close look at eyebrows, dark shades below the eyes, eyelashes, lips and other microscopic details of the face. Retouching such parameters will boost the beauty of the face. One needs to understand the amount of light that falls on the subject, and reduce it at desired scenarios. Reducing the light on the face doesn’t darken the image, instead increases glow when applied with hue and saturation slider. Light and Flash: This competitive scenario will force the photographer to use highend cameras. The snapper will have his camera settings done to capture the face of his subject with highest clarity. To achieve this, it is important to make the background blur and thereby increasing the sharpness of his subject. The shutterbug will need to take a great care in lighting effects and flash settings. The camera should flash only when necessary. The photo will be pleasant, if natural light is used in maximum. Setting the light for a photo is just another art. It should be done with excellence to make it more adorable than an amateur capture. Contrast the Backdrop: The foreground entity will look finer when the backdrop contrasting. Handle dodge and blur tool to wipe off the sharpness in the background. Try to lessen the striking colors at the back settings in the back settings to hike the charm of the portrait. This is a mandate technique used along with other procedures while retouching the portrait. Retouching my portrait involves a lot of input from my end as well as from the editor’s perspective. The combined inputs will narrow down to the best possible correction and lead to the spangled output. Cleaning the skin and retouching hair property will make the portrait fantabulous. The hair color can be treated in a way that it looks blending with the skin tone. The black spot on the face must be erased off using clone tool and skin color should be maintained even across the face. Brightening up of eyes and teeth will add more color to the photo. Retouching my portrait is not complete without adding twinkling effects to my eyes. The editor must take immense effect to zoom in and implant effects into the lens in the eyes. The artist should work on the color of teeth. It is not necessarily to be bright white; however various shades of white will do the job. Snap a shot and give it a try. 2. Understand The Pros And Cons of a Custom Tattoo Design Contest Today you see tattoos nearly everywhere. Many people, particularly the younger generation, wear one. With so many variations and designs, getting a custommade tattoo is still gaining popularity. Tattoo design contests are becoming popular for people who want a oneofakind design. These contests are being offered by websites which serve as platforms for tattoo enthusiasts and artists alike. But what are the pros and cons of a custom tattoo design contest? Hosting your own contest is not always a winwin situation; but to start with, let us explain you the advantages. As with any custom tattoo design contest, you get a say about what you like in your own custom tattoo design. The artist just provides the technical details, but you can modify their creation through feedback. So it gives you more control of the situation. Because it is offered online, you have access to artists around the globe who can give you high quality work. It can save you time in that you will not need to go from one tattoo parlor to another, just to find the perfect tattoo designer. The artist or designers are the ones who will come and offer their services to you. And you will have the perfect tattoo design at a very low price. But what are the disadvantages of these contests? Though it is costeffective there are sites that have hidden costs, so be aware of them before hosting your own contest. There are also those who participate in the contest who are not real tattoo artists but only designers. Tattoos are a different form of art, so be very careful who you choose. Are there pros and cons for tattoo designers, too? The truth is that if you are a beginner in the business, this contest will serve as experience for you. Not only that, chances are other clients may hire you, winner or no winner. Sometimes tattoo parlors are looking for new artists for their shops. For seasoned artists, well, this is more of a fun way of showing how good you are and that you are up to the challenge of creating new tattoo designs. You can gain a lot of knowledge and get the edge over other artists. What about the disadvantages to artists? For one thing, you have no copyright and ownership of your work. The ownership will be given to the host of the contest and the owners of the site. So, the site has the right to display your work and can be used by anyone. Secondly, there is no remuneration. Because this contest is open to all designers around the world, there would be a number of entries submitted, but only one winner will be awarded the prize. So your chances are about 1%; a real challenge to anyone, especially to newbies in the business. Since your creations are on display, anyone can copy them and put a new twist on them, making them their own creation. This is a high risk that one has to take. Moreover, though it is free to join the contest, there are also instances that the prize is not totally guaranteed if the host decides to back out or vanish for some reason. So, if you are considering hosting or joining a contest, the above mentioned are just some of the pros and cons of the business. As with having a tattoo, the risk, the responsibility, your readiness for all eventualities, and your commitment, is on the line. Think hard before making a decision; no one is forcing you to do it. 3. Sonnet Poem Writing „A lyric poem of fourteen lines, often about love, that follows one of several strict conventional patterns of rhyme. Elizabeth Barrett Browning, John Keats, and William Shakespeare are poets known for their sonnets“. The primary meter of all sonnet poems in English poetry is iambic pentameter although there have been a few tetrameter and even hexameter sonnets, as well. History and Origin The term „sonnet“ is derived from the Occitan word sonet and the Italian word sonetto, meaning „little song“ or „little sound“. It evolved into a poem consisting of 14 lines by the thirteenth century, following a strict rhyming scheme and specific structure. Basic Forms and Types of Sonnet Italian or Petrarchan Sonnet The Italian or Petrarchan sonnet is one of the oldest sonnet forms in the world of literature. This sonnet is further composed of two types of stanza forms. The group of first 8 lines is called the Octave with the rhyming structure abba abba. The remaining 6 lines is called the Sestet and can have either two or three rhyming sounds, arranged in a variety of ways. Common rhyming patterns for a sestet is abcabc or abccba. Example of ItalianPetrarchan Sonnet Poem Milton! thou shouldst be living at this hour: England hath need of thee: she is a fen Of stagnant waters: altar, sword, and pen, Fireside, the heroic wealth of hall and bower, Have forfeited their ancient English dower Of inward happiness. We are selfish men; Oh! raise us up, return to us again; And give us manners, virtue, freedom, power. Thy soul was like a Star, and dwelt apart; Thou hadst a voice whose sound was like the sea: Pure as the naked heavens, majestic, free, So didst thou travel on life’s common way, In cheerful godliness; and yet thy heart The lowliest duties on herself did lay. London, by Wordsworth Spenserian Sonnet The Spenserian sonnet, invented by Edmund Spenser is an outgrowth of the stanza pattern, used in his famous work The Faerie Queene a b a b b c b c c, has the pattern: Format of a Spenserian sonnet follows a abab pattern, consisting of independent 4line groups, each containing a specific concept. The first 12 lines consist of lines with an overlapping abcd rhyming scheme, divided into 3 separate quatrains while the last 2 lines consist of a rhyming couplet. The first 3 quatrains contain separate but loosely related idea while the last couplet professes an entirely different idea. Example of Spenserian Sonnet Poem What guile is this, that those her golden tresses She doth attire under a net of gold; And with sly skill so cunningly them dresses, That which is gold or hair, may scarce be told? Is it that men’s frail eyes, which gaze too bold, She may entangle in that golden snare; And being caught may craftily enfold Their weaker hearts, which are not yet well aware? Take heed therefore, mine eyes, how ye do stare Henceforth too rashly on that guileful net, In which if ever ye entrapped are, Out of her bands ye by no means shall get. Folly it were for any being free, To covet fetters, though they golden be. Amoretti by Edmund Spenser c. 15521599 English or Shakespearian Sonnet An English or Shakespearean is one of the simplest form in all sonnet poems and consists of 14 lines where each line contains ten syllables and is written in iambic pentameter. The format of a Shakespearian sonnet has a pattern of an unstressed syllable followed by a stressed syllable which is repeated five times. The English sonnet is composed of 3 quatrains of alternating rhyme while the last two lines are a rhyming couplet. The rhyming scheme in a Shakespearean sonnet is abab, cdcd, efef, gg. Each quatrain in the English sonnet forms a specific concept which is closely related or follows the concept of the other quatrains. Example of EnglishShakespearian Sonnet Poem Let me not to the marriage of true minds Admit impediments. Love is not love Which alters when it alteration finds, Or bends with the remover to remove: O no! it is an everfixed mark That looks on tempests and is never shaken; It is the star to every wandering bark, Whose worth’s unknown, although his height be taken. Love’s not Time’s fool, though rosy lips and cheeks Within his bending sickle’s compass come: Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks, But bears it out even to the edge of doom. If this be error and upon me proved, I never writ, nor no man ever loved. Shakespearian Sonnet 116 Indefinable Sonnet An indefinable sonnet is the one which does not fit any particular pattern yet consists all the basic elements of a sonnet.
